"Commitment, by its nature, frees us from ourselves and, while it stands us in opposition to some, it joins us with others similarly committed. Commitment moves us from the mirror trap of the self absorbed with the self to the freedom of a community of shared values." - Michael Lewis

San Antonio Wiccan Meetup

Established April 2007

Organizer: Seshen

____________________________

The focus of this Meetup is the religion of Wicca; practices, history, traditions, evolution and related topics. This is a social gathering, NOT a workshop or class, although there will occasionally be demonstrations of rituals, etc. Generally there is an icebreaker topic to get things moving, then it's open forum for discussion of any topic relating to the faith.

Wicca here is defined as including BTW and non-BTW; all will be treated respectfully. Its origin is 20th-century, though structural/spiritual influences are undeniably older. We will be coming from these perspectives. Here are the common points of Wicca.

A sense of humor is essential, as well as an inquiring mind. Everyone is encouraged to be open with their questions and views. Member experience ranges from long-time practitioners, priest/esses, to those who are brand-new to Wicca and/or are interested in learning more for their own information. There are often very diverse points of view on some aspects of Wicca, so please be aware that strong opinions might be presented. Come with a thick skin and critical thinking cap in place.

It's a smaller, more intimate group - the general RSVP limit is 15-20 adults. This makes the discussion aspect much easier to manage.

Sound like what you're looking for? Go here for membership guidelines and further information.

Note from Seshen: I will NEVER require a fee for the Meetups. But I do pay a monthly fee for the service, as well as running into the occasional private room fee for good venues. So if the hat is on the table, so to speak, please feel free to drop in what you can, when you can, to offset expenses.

Heads-Up:

Children ~~ General rule on child attendance is limited to supervised children ages 12 and above. Select Meetups will range from childfree to inclusion of all ages, depending on location. If you would like your child to participate in the discussion, they are welcome to do so. Otherwise, please bring something for them to do quietly. Please be aware that topics will not be censored.

Not Negotiable ~~ We are witch-war neutral. Don't bring personal or local conflicts to the Meetup or the message board. Politics (local and national) should be checked at the door. No anti-Christian sentiment, as supportive Christian spouses often attend. Thanks!
